San José, the capital of Costa Rica, isn’t the first city that comes to mind when thinking about creative urban destinations. Travelers visiting this Central American destination often skip the city altogether, catching shuttles to tourist towns like Monteverde or the beaches of Manuel Antonio. But because of the city’s university communities and job opportunities for all kinds of creatives, plenty of talented tattoo artists call San José home. Jagmohan Garg share about What Do Travel Industry Leaders Talk About Behind Closed Doors?

Image
Does having drinks and tips included make sense? While many consumers like paying an all-inclusive price that include alcoholic beverages and tips, Gary Murphy, co-owner of AmaWaterways argues it doesn't always make sense. In the case of river cruises, he says, not pricing an open bar in its cruise fare encourages guests to go ashore and experience the places they are visiting. He says not including tips also means its employees are highly motivated to make you happy. In fact, he claims the line regularly gets top performers from other companies who like the idea they can maximize their income by working harder to earn more than the shared allocation when tips are included. That said, the line is also starting an open bar for an hour before dinner next year. What are the biggest challenges for travel advisors? jagmohan garg more details;  http://www.forbes.com/sites/douggollan/2016/12/17/what-do-travel-industry-leaders-talk-about-behind-closed-doors/#4bb058b9baa9

Travel opinion highlights from the year by Jagmohan Garg

Image
Jagmohan Garg says, some great Travel rants this year. The bulk of my world travelling was done under the age of 12. I've been lucky enough to see most of New Zealand and plenty of Australia, visited Germany several more times with great stopovers in Asia along the way and finally ticked Disneyland off my bucket list at the ripe old age of 11. I sometimes wish I could redo some of those trips as an adult, because I didn't always appreciate it and spent a lot of time missing my Sega Master System. - Eli Orzessek wondered if you should leave the kids at home. "Is travel wasted on babies", Feb 23. So our circular discussion about bookings and availability went on and on, with our agitation levels growing and the supervisor's defences up. "I don't like my job," he said, hoping we'd empathise. No dice - we enjoy ours, so "not our problem", we replied. In a futile bid for sympathy, he said: "You're making me feel bad....

Jagmohan Garg, Legislation on GST may miss Winter Session

Image
The four pieces of legislation required to be passed by Parliament for the roll-out of the Goods and Services Tax will not be tabled in the Winter Session as the sixth meeting of the Goods and Services Tax Council on Sunday failed to reach a consensus while Monday’s meeting has been shifted to December 22-23. The Winter session ends on December 16.“Our target is April 1 and we stand by it,” Finance Minister Arun Jaitley told reporters following the meeting on Sunday. “The luxury of time is not available to us. April 1 is the first possible day for the GST to be implemented and the last day is constitutionally defined as September 16. So the difference is just five months and 15 days. That’s why we don’t have the luxury of time.” For more details;  http://www.thehindu.com/business/Legislation-on-GST-may-miss-Winter-Session/article16794098.ece1

Jagmohan Garg highlights Time to end free travel?

Image
Jagmohan Garg says as a frequent train, Luas and bus traveller – free – can I suggest that those with free travel, and with a pension, over say, €50,000, should be willing to pay an annual stipend for the travel pass, this sum to go to public transport? An amount of €100 or even €200 comes to mind. Before the relevant cohort throw a wobbly and condemn me for proposing that they give up something they really would not miss, think of the alternative. We hear from Minister for Transport Shane Ross that Bus Éireann will be commercially dead in 24 months. We know Luas will almost certainly go the same way. Can Iarnrod Éireann be far behind? So travel will no longer be available free. With some version of my proposal I would still travel as much as at present, spend money when away and contribute to the survival of public transport. And if our representatives think to take too much, I will join the grey lynch-mob at the next hustings. more details;  http://www.irishtimes.com/opi...

Jagmohan garg suggest 10 surprising travel perks that probably come with your credit card

Image
You've been taught to always, always read the fine print. This is to avoid nasty surprises, mostly, but in this case, the fine print might be hiding some benefits. Check your cards to potentially uncover some of the following travel perks. 1. Concierge services Some cards (like the World Elite MasterCard, American Express, and Visa Signature card) come with concierges - a number on the back that you can call to get help with travel planning, restaurant reservations or event tickets. 2. Emergency assistance Similarly, if you get into any trouble some cards will have someone on-call to help 24/7 - be it medical or legal assistance. That said, only the help is free, not the actual service you need. Visa Signature, Visa TravelMoney, and all American Express cards offer this perk, for example. 3. Hotel upgrades and perks Some cards, like the Visa Signature or anything co-branded with a hotel chain will get you hotel room upgrades when possible, complimentary Wi-Fi, e...

Eight countries have declared that they have nuclear weapons: US, Russia, UK, France, China, India, Pakistan and North Korea. 5. The US spends around $25billion (nearly £20bn) a year on nuclear weapons. 6.Nuclear weaponry has improved techniques for verifying the authenticity of paintings. If the paint contains certain isotopes, it is from after 1945. 7. Bikinis were so named because the designer wanted the revealing swimsuit to cause an explosive reaction akin to that on Bikini Atoll. 8. In 1955, the US exploded a nuclear bomb near some beer cans and bottles to see if the beer was drinkable after a nuclear explosion. 9.The project was called The Effect Of Nuclear Explosions On Commercially Packaged Beverages. ...

Last month’s season-ending Six Hours of Bahrain also marked the final race for the longtime Head of Audi Motorsport in his current position, as Ullrich transitions towards his retirement at the end of next year. “There is no question that this final race, especially the last two races after the news, it was the end of an era. It was special,” Ullrich told Sportscar365 in an exclusive interview. “Knowing what it means for everybody, the  squad was very much motivated in the last race to make a good result out of it. “And that we could make it happen at the end, it was really the best thing that was possible at that moment. “I think, having in mind that it is now the end of an era, everybody just had a positive last race weekend and that’s somethin...

The scheme was given the final approval in November but the exact date for its launch has not been disclosed. Jagmohan Garg Use Google's New Safety App

Google introduced a new safety app on Monday that allows your closest friends and family members to see your location, even when your phone is offline. The app, called Trusted Contacts, is intended to “help you feel safe and give your friends and family peace of mind,” according to a statement. To use the service, you designate contacts with whom you want to share your location. If traveling or hiking, you can send a notification to the contacts to let them know you have safely arrived at your destination. Friends and family who are part of this trusted list can also request to see your location. If you are safe, you can deny the request, but if you don't respond within a certain amount of time the location will be sent to the person who requested it. Travelers will be able to use this app to let their friends know that they’ve landed at their destination, arrived at their hotel, or even summited the top of a mountain. Why Travel Is The Key To Happy Employees

Image
As a public speaker, I travel every week. It’s a requirement of the job; clients never send 500 people to you. So as someone who reaches executive platinum status with American Airlines before Summer every year, I don’t think of travel when I think of fun. But according to a recent FlexJobs survey, I am the exception to the rule. According to their survey, travel is one of the key reasons millennials work. 70% of millennials identified travel as their primary reason to work. The only thing that ranked higher was paying for basic necessities. The study also revealed that 15% of millennials identified themselves as digital nomads. Here are a few other examples of the “don’t fence me in” mentality revealed in the FlexJobs report:
